Why we exist in Krabi.Krabi is the most scooter-dependent province in southern Thailand. Unlike Phuket, where you can survive without a bike, Krabi is a mainland province with real distances between everything you came to see — limestone karsts at Ao Luek, Tiger Cave Temple, Shell Cemetery, the beaches at Klong Muang and Tubkaek, the night market in Krabi Town. Public transport is sparse and taxis are expensive. A scooter is not optional; it's the difference between seeing Krabi and seeing your hotel.

Verified shops in Krabi.Every rental shop on our Krabi roster is vetted in person by the Skoot team. Where to base.Most travellers default to Ao Nang, the beach strip with longtail boats to Railay and the closest hotels to Nopparat Thara. It's a solid choice for short trips and first visits. Long-stay travellers, climbers, and digital nomads often prefer Krabi Town — cheaper accommodation, better Thai food, the famous weekend night market, and significantly cheaper monthly scooter rates. Either way, a scooter unlocks the whole province within a 30-minute ride.

One important note about Railay and Tonsai. Railay and Tonsai beaches are world-famous for rock climbing, and many first-time visitors assume they can ride a scooter there. They cannot. Railay is a peninsula cut off from the mainland by hundreds of metres of vertical limestone cliffs, and the only way in or out is by longtail boat from Ao Nang beach, Ao Nam Mao pier, or Krabi Town. There are no roads, no scooters, and no vehicles in Railay at all. The right strategy is simple: base in Ao Nang, rent a scooter through Skoot, and day-trip to Railay by boat whenever you want. That way you get full scooter access to mainland Krabi and easy access to the cliffs.
